USM SEE has successfully organized Do-It-Yourself Printed Circuit Board Workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to teach Do-It-Yourself PCB fabrication techniques to students as well as using PCB layout software called Eagle Cadsoft. This workshop aims to show the complete process to fabricate a PCB from the design stage all the way to fabrication stage. The workshop was fully sponsored by USM SEE, Vanguard Electronic and Makeweekend. A total of 40 students were involved as the participants of the workshop.
Mr. Calvin Chen was the Project Manager of the workshop. The organizing committee started preparing for the workshop at 8am and the workshop was officially launched at 9am at Microcomputer Laboratory. The workshop began with a short welcoming speech by Mr. Calvin Chen. The briefing on the Eagle CadSoft started shortly after the welcoming speech. Since the participating students had no prior knowledge and exposure to Eagle CadSoft, Mr. Calvin Chen delivered a detailed talk on how to draw schematic diagram and how to do the layout of the schematic diagram.
The participants had the opportunity to try themselves in constructing simple Light Dependant Resistor Circuit. The participants were guided by tutors throughout the session. The workshop finished up with the group photograph session.
